That said, shredding the volume can't hurt and will also protect against any future catastrophic weakness found in the encryption, as unlikely TrueCrypt
My friend had Truecrypt installed on his laptop and accidently formatted his drive. He was able to recover the files but they show as encrypted. How could we unencrypt these recovered files? NOTE: The files are now on a different computer w/o truecrypt installed.
I mistakenly thought another drive wasn't working, and so I deleted the volume, did a quick format, and gave it a drive letter, so I could recover the data on it through Active@ Undelete. Mar 11, 2015 Can I delete a Veracrypt volume just like any other file One way to securely and simply get rid of a Veracrypt Volume is is to change the password to random keystrokes then delete the Volume. Specially if its a really big Volume. Secure wipe can take forever on a terabyte Veracrypt Volume.
